Hello all,
is it possible to perform a MS Project roundtrip?
That means:
1. export initial project schedule from MS Project
2. import to Polarion (adjust import settings; maybe the corresponding work items exist from previous import)
3. do daily work and update work item properties in Polarion
4. export work items using MS Project export format (maybe additional mapping configuration needed)
5. import the Polarion export to the MS Project schedule (kind of synchronization to be performed)
6. start again roundtrip (1.) after project re-planning
Has anyone in the forum made some experiences?
Thanks in advance
MS project roundtrip
Re: MS project roundtrip
Currently I have the feedback from Polarion support, that a roundtrip is not intended.
Nevertheless I wonder about some strange behaviour in the export for XML (MS Project format) and I'm still in contact with support team.
At the moment I want to have a clear statement, which work item data is exported in which format.
How do other teams with Polarion do their "reporting of activities" in the context of PM tools?
What is the state oft the art?

Re: MS project roundtrip
Here is the update of my analysis (support analysis still ongoing).
In the Polarion export with the XML (MS Project) format there are two (IMO) bugs:
1) the index of the WBS/OutlineNumber starts at "0" -> must be "1"
2) the is a mismatch of OutlineLevel and OutlineNumber -> content must be swapped
If you follow some additional rules the import in MS Project should be possible.

Re: MS project roundtrip
Official feature request @ Polarion is started ...
Maybe a round trip is possible then

Re: MS project roundtrip
Hello all,
good news:
there shall be an update of MS Project export feature inside Polarion 18.3 (end of 2018).
After this update the export from Polarion shall follow the MS Project XML scheme correctly.
This update will not (!) cover a complete roundtrip between MS Project and Polarion; an import from MS Project to Polarion can only be performed once.
