Start Shell script from within Polarion

Postby Polly » Tue Sep 20, 2011 1:51 pm

Dear all,

is it somehow possible to start shell scripts from within Polarion? There is some information in "Advanced Build Management" but for me it's not sufficient to set it up. Goal is just executing a shell script which will some steps in a file system. Ideally it should be possible to use it in a workflowfunction...

yes, of course, the simplest way is to register a schell script (e.g. batch file on Windows) as a regular job.
If you'd need concrete advices or examples, please approach support.

In workflow it's even easier, if you're programmer (if you suppose to implement own workflow function - you should be one, right?). Just call corresponding java method to start the shell command (like java.lang.System.exec ()) ;-) But be careful to start it in separate thread not to block server with unnecessary wait for return from the schell...
