Problem with http://user:pass@host/ urls

Postby schabi » Mon Sep 18, 2006 10:29 am

Hi,

I currently tried to connect an existing working directory (checked out via svn command line tools) to the remote repository. The base url is:

Code: Select all

http://mschaber:XXX@svn.refractions.net/postgis

During connecting, I got a warning about some invalid character %40, but klicked on "keep URL". When I now "synchronize repository", I get the synchronize view, but I get the error message:

Code: Select all

Malformed URL: 'http://mschaber:XXX%40svn.refractions.net/postgis/trunk/regress/regress_ogc.sql': For input string: "XXX%40svn.refractions.net"

(I'm using Subversive 1.0.2 in Eclipse 3.2, and replaced the real password with XXX in the above snippets)

Any idea?

Dear schabi,

In the recent versions 1.1.0 M4 and 1.0.3 such URLs are not reported as malformed, but unfortunately username/password isn't applied, because it should be supported by JavaSVN library. As a workaround please specify username and password not in the URL, but in authentication fields.

Hi, Ivinnykov,

Is this possible without losing functionality for the svn command line clients?

Thanks,
Markus

Dear Markus,

Yes, you can specify URL with username and password, which are ignored there, but it save you from performing relocate. So you can use URL with username/password, but should define username/password in authentication fields also.
