eclipseWTP and subversive

Postby angelcervera » Tue Jun 06, 2006 7:27 am

Try: CheckOut -> Wizard -> Dynamic Web

After generate "Dynamic Web", subversive delete .settings directory.

¿Bug? ¿Subversive delete files or directories generated by wizards?

Dear angelcervera,

Could you please provide more details? What other plugins do you use? Please describe your process step-by-step. To what plugin each step you descibed is related? What is "Dynamic Web"?

Thank you.

Steps to reprodice error:
1.- Install eclipseWTP: http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/dow ... gtk.tar.gz
and update using Help -> Software Updates -> Find and Install ...
2.- Install subversive using Eclipse Update Manager.
3.- Restart eclipse.
4.- Go to SVN perspective and add Repository Location
5.- Select resource in new repository added and select "Find/Check out as ..." in contextual menu.
6.- Find/Check out as ... -> Check out as a project configured using the New Project Wizard -> Web -> Dynamic Web Project

Error:
"Dynamic Web Project" wizard generate .settings directory with configuration used by WTP plugins, but subversive (i suppose) delete this directory.
This directory is generated by Wizard, so is not in repository.

Context:
Linux Gentoo.
Eclipse WTP 1.0.2 (Eclipse 3.1.2)
Blackdown JDK 1.4.2.03
Subversive 1.0.0.RC2a
Subversion 1.2.3

Thanks

Ploblem persist in 1.0.0 released

Postby angelcervera » Thu Jul 20, 2006 5:26 pm

Problem persist in 1.0.0 release.

Now, i'm testing with "Java Project" Wizard

1.- Go to SVN perspective and add Repository Location
2.- Select resource in new repository added and select "Find/Check out as ..." in contextual menu.
3.- Find/Check out as ... -> Check out as a project configured using the New Project Wizard -> Java Project

Code generated by "Java Project" Wizard:
File: .project

Code: Select all

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<projectDescription>
   <name>afwGenerador</name>
   <comment></comment>
   <projects>
   </projects>
   <buildSpec>
      <buildCommand>
         <name>org.eclipse.jdt.core.javabuilder</name>
         <arguments>
         </arguments>
      </buildCommand>
   </buildSpec>
   <natures>
      <nature>org.eclipse.jdt.core.javanature</nature>
   </natures>
</projectDescription>

Content of file if execute "Java Project" Wizard throw "Find/Check out as ...":
File: .project

Code: Select all

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<projectDescription>
   <name>afwGenerador</name>
   <comment></comment>
   <projects>
   </projects>
   <buildSpec>
   </buildSpec>
   <natures>
   </natures>
</projectDescription>

.project file is replaced.
.project is NOT in repository.

Other test, using:
3.- Find/Check out as ... -> Check out as a project configured using the New Project Wizard -> Web -> Dynamic Web Project

Content of file: .project

Code: Select all

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<projectDescription>
        <name>web</name>
        <comment></comment>
        <projects>
        </projects>
        <buildSpec>
        </buildSpec>
        <natures>
        </natures>
</projectDescription>

But must be:

Code: Select all

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<projectDescription>
        <name>web</name>
        <comment></comment>
        <projects>
        </projects>
        <buildSpec>
                <buildCommand>
                        <name>org.eclipse.jdt.core.javabuilder</name>
                        <arguments>
                        </arguments>
                </buildCommand>
                <buildCommand>
                        <name>org.eclipse.wst.common.project.facet.core.builder</name>
                        <arguments>
                        </arguments>
                </buildCommand>
                <buildCommand>
                        <name>org.eclipse.wst.validation.validationbuilder</name>
                        <arguments>
                        </arguments>
                </buildCommand>
        </buildSpec>
        <natures>
                <nature>org.eclipse.wst.common.project.facet.core.nature</nature>
                <nature>org.eclipse.jdt.core.javanature</nature>
                <nature>org.eclipse.wst.common.modulecore.ModuleCoreNature</nature>
                <nature>org.eclipse.jem.workbench.JavaEMFNature</nature>
        </natures>
</projectDescription>
