enscript support

Postby liamrocker » Sat Jul 08, 2006 3:48 pm

Cheers!

I am trying to use enscript for syntax highlighting (Java Code for example). In the web.xml I read the following:

<!--
Optional. Path to enscript utility, which perform source code coloring
Values: Valid path to correctly installed GNU Enscript utility.
Example: c:\Program Files\GnuWin32\bin\enscript.exe
-->

Path to enscipt on my Debian Linux Server is "/usr/bin/enscript". This works well with other software, viewcvs for example. In the web.xml I wrote:

<context-param>
<param-name>EnscriptPath</param-name>
<param-value>usr/bin/enscript</param-value>
</context-param>

Although highlighting doenst work at all. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

Sebastian

Dear Sebastian,

GNU Enscript is obsolete parameter, which doesn't more used. In the latest version we use pure Java library for syntax highlighting. Please download one of the latest nightly builds:
1. Go to Polarion: http://community.polarion.org/polarion/ ... s/project/
2. Select SVN Web Client in the Projects list
3. In the Topics area select Builds
4. Select one of the latest succesfull builds
5. Go to /distributions and download the project

VHDL and C# support

Postby fsimjee » Sun Jul 30, 2006 3:22 am

C++ and Java files work great. However, how can I get highlighting for VHDL and C# files? Is there a way to use enscript in the latest builds?

Dear fsimjee,

We use pure Java JHighlight component (https://jhighlight.dev.java.net/) for syntax highlighting. In order to add new syntax highlighting you should add special descriptor for it. Currently we support only set of languages, which comes with JHighlight. It will be great to add highlighting for other languages, but we have no efforts for it. It's pretty separate task, so it will be great if someone can help us with this. Please refer to JHighlight documentation for details.

Regarding enscript - we don't plan to support it in future, because it's not pure Java solution.
Best regards,
