dumb question compiling

Postby nycdarren » Mon Apr 03, 2006 6:52 pm

First off, great interface and product :D

I was trying to compile from the svn web client repository in eclipse and having trouble
finding imports for com.polarion..... is there a jar that i'm missing somewhere?

Hi Darren,

actually you don't miss any jars. The SVNWebClient contains 2 alternatives for some classes - one are used in the stand-alone SVNWebClient and the others are used when SVNWebClient is bundled as a part of our Polarion DPP product. When compiling in Eclipse, then you should ignore the src/contrib/polarion source folder - it will fix your problem.

I hope this helps,

I must be doing something wrong but

if i ignore the src/contrib/polarion folder,

the src/java folder misses packages that can only be found in the contrib folder.

Which pops the com errors again when i retrieve those missing files.

never mind, i fixed my problem. (took some extra files by mistakes)

Hello all,

Let me explain the project structure. It will help to compile the project.

SVNWebClient\src\java - WebClient code
SVNWebClient\src\contrib - contribution code, which consists of 2 streams:

SVNWebClient\src\contrib\polarion - Polarion version
SVNWebClient\src\contrib\standalone - standalone version

WebClient was designed to work in 2 environments - as embedded application or as standalone application. It is included into Polarion DPP as embedded application, but you download from site the standalone version. If you checkout from SVN the Eclipse project you will see compilation errors, because by default the source code is prepared for distribution with Polarion. The only thing, what you need to do in order to have standalone version compiled is remove SVNWebClient\src\contrib\polarion from source path and include SVNWebClient\src\contrib\standalone to it.

For succesfull project compilation you should have 2 directories as a sources path:

Dear ivinnykov.
I am working on build: 20060620-0140.

I have removed SVNWebClient\src\contrib\polarion from source path
and included SVNWebClient\src\contrib\standalone into source path.

But I am still having following 7 errors.

1) Cannot resolve plug-in: com.polarion.vcs.svn.
2) Cannot resolve plug-in: com.polarion.portal.tomcat.
3) Cannot resolve plug-in: com.polarion.vcs.svn.auth.
4) Cannot resolve plug-in: org.apache.log4j.
5) Cannot resolve plug-in: com.polarion.xray.core.
6) Cannot resolve plug-in: com.polarion.xray.web.

on these lines.
<import plugin="org.eclipse.core.runtime"/>
<import plugin="com.polarion.vcs.svn"/>
<import plugin="com.polarion.portal.tomcat"/>
<import plugin="com.polarion.vcs.svn.auth"/>
<import plugin="org.apache.log4j"/>
<import plugin="org.junit" optional="true"/>
<import plugin="com.polarion.xray.core"/>
<import plugin="com.polarion.xray.web"/>

7) Unknown extension point: 'com.polarion.portal.tomcat.webapps'.
on this line.

Please guide me how can i resolve this problem.

Kind Regards
Aamir Yaseen

Dear Aamir,

These references are defined in plugin.xml, located in project. This file doesn't required for standalone version (it is required only for Polarion version), so you can just drop (or rename) it. In any case project should work under Eclipse even with these problems.
