Document properties in round-trip template

Postby Gersbacher » Fri Jan 09, 2015 7:50 am

Hello,

we create some document custom fields and use it successfully within the document by usage of wiki content.

Is it also possible to access this document custom fields in the Word round-trip template? If possible, how the control field shall be specified in the word template?

Thanks for support.

You need to download the template from the document's sidebar.

Then open it in Word, enter the header & footer section and go to Developer tab. Here insert new "Plain text content control" and edit its properties. It must contain the document custom field's ID. Save it and upload the template back to Polarion.

Thanks a lot, it works.

But there are two additional question:
Which ID shall be used for document status property (status, Status or documentStatus does not work)?

Is there a possibility to change the Author of the document? Because sometimes the original author of the document is not available anymore in the project and another person assume the ownership of the document.

Hello

Document's Author can not be changed. You can workaround it by setting up a custom field of type User.

A document's Status can not be put into header or footer. Only predefined fields as described in Polarion Help, chapter "Using Round-trip Export Templates" http://almdemo.polarion.com/polarion/help/?topic=/com.polarion.xray.doc.user/ugDocsWordRoundtrip.html

You can, however, use predefined Wiki macro to have it displayed at least on front page. Insert following Wiki content :

Code: Select all

{document-property:$document.getId()|status}

Hello,

we still use a custom field of type user, but I hope the original document author can be adapted in future.

Can you please also track a new feature "document's Status accessible in Word header and footer"? Thanks.
On front page we still display the document status, but in the common word template of our company the document status is included in the footer. Therefore we should have an adapted word export template equal to the common word template.

We tried following workaround: Create a custom field "doc-status", which is automatically changed if the original document status is changed. But currently there is no possibilty to do this.

Any Document, whether created in Polarion or imported from Word, can be exported to Word. The exported document can subsequently be shared subsequently than others, or the Document author can operate considering a reference to the document off-parentage. After changes, the exported document can also be imported sustain to Polarion where the changes are incorporated into the online Document and the Document records are updated. This feature is called Word Round-vacation.
