How to query child elements for test run query

Postby steffenw » Thu Sep 26, 2013 3:07 pm

Hello,

I would like to know how query needs to look like to get all testcases verifying a list of change requests or defects.

WI1: type=release; Id=V1.00

WI2: type=changerequests, ID=WI2, relates_to WI1
WI3: type=defect, ID=WI3, relates_to WI1

WI4: type=testcase, ID=TC1, verifies WI2
WI5: type=testcase, ID=TC2, verifies WI2
WI6: type=testcase, ID=TC3, verifies WI3

I would like to specify the query like this: give me all test cases that verifies the changerequests or (solved) defects which are shipped with releas V1.00.

In SQL it would look similar like this:
select * from TESTCASES
where
linkedWI in ( select ID from CHANGEREQUESTS where linkedId = "WI1" ) OR
linkedWI in ( select ID from DEFECTS where linkedId = "WI1" )

The expected result of my query would be: WI4, WI5, WI6

Any idea?

Kind regards

Steffen

Maybe you have to try this extension:

http://extensions.polarion.com/polarion ... ion=PE-550

Thanks for your response. But I think it was not what I was looking for.

Today I tried this:
linkedWorkitems:( linkedWorkItems:WI\-1 )

But it did not work. I could not find an example to do subqueries using Google.

Any ideas left?

Hello Steffen,

are you looking for a possibility to view the workitems directly in Polarion? Then you just have to go to "Work Items" and query for your changerequests and defects. Then you switch from table view to tree view and voilà! You see your changerequests and the testcases which verify them.

If you are looking for a possibility to query the testcases verifying your changerequests e. g. in a Wiki script, via Webservice or in any other script / application - why not using a stacked query: First retrieve all changerequests and defects matching your criteria and then in a loop query for the linked testcases of each workitem.

It might be helpful to describe a bit more in detail what's your intention.

Kind regards

Martin
