Polarion getting slower and slower...

Postby mathiaskrause » Wed Sep 28, 2011 9:33 am

Is there anybody out there, having the same issue?

We use Polarion in Firefox 3.6.22 and as longer we stay there, working on requirements, as slower the system gets. After 30 minutes of work, it takes about 5 seconds from mouse-click to action. Restarting Firefox fixes that in most cases...

Hi Mathias,

general issue for slowness of the browser might be memory consumption. If you open too many tabs, FF uses separate processes for each, you can relatively easy get more memory allocated than your OS can physically reserve for this, and then OS starts swapping.

Recommendation - watch what's happening with memory from the Task Manager. Close unnecessary tabs. May be your computers have really not sufficient physical RAM? Extension should not be too expensive in meantime.

Best regards,
Nick

Now, we tested Polarion with newer Firefox (7.0.1):
Everything seems to be fine there. So, i would say, that old version of firefox really had an issue. With the newer version, everything is faster in general, and there's no slow down, when working some time...
