Polarion 2011 Import failed Us_ascii

Postby ISA » Mon May 30, 2011 6:04 pm

I am using Polarion 2011 installed on a xp windows virtual machine.
Word 2007 is installed.

Our customer has a requirement document in word 2003.
I open this document in word 2007 and save it in docx.

I wanted to import requirements in polarion 2011.
The preview operation seems to work well with the default work item rule but
the import operation failed with as message
sorry but you entry, Document, contains unsupported charaters. For names, Polarion supports only us-ascii character sets.
What could be the problem.

Hi,

the message was about document name, you need to rename the document, how it will be stored in Polarion. By default it takes over the file name, which, obviously contained non-ascii characters.

Best regards,
Nick

The problem was du to the fact that the name contains an additional . (which is an us_ascii character).
"Eid-signa-RQA-V01.01.docx" is not OK
but
"Eid-signa-RQA-V01.docx" is OK

Hello, the issue about misleading validation message is already recognized and tracked internally as defect DPP-23669. It is planned to be fixed in an upcoming service release. Sorry for the inconvenience.

What the message actually should tell is that the document name is not allowed to contain any characters besides ASCII (US) letters, numbers, -, _ and a space.
