VSS problem: vss.password not set

Postby Maverick » Thu Sep 01, 2005 10:11 pm

HI Michal,
I am trying to convert a VSS repo to SVN using the tool. Here are my config files and svn importer log files.

SVN Importer logr:
18:03:39,645 [main] ERROR VssConfig:96 - configuration property 'vss.password' is not set
18:04:29,318 [main] ERROR VssConfig:96 - configuration property 'vss.password' is not set

Config file:
#################################################################################
########################## VSS PROVIDER CONFIGURATION ###########################
#################################################################################
vss.class=org.polarion.svnimporter.vssprovider.VssProvider
vss.executable=C:\\VSS\\win32\\ss.exe
vss.path=C:\\temp\\Streaming\\vss
vss.project=$/Streaming
vss.username=rmorton
vss.password=test
vss.tempdir=c:/temp/vss_temp
vss.log.dateformat=dd.MM.yy HH:mm
vss.log.datelocale=en
vss.log.encoding=Cp1251
# if enabled - dump output of vss.executable command to stdout
vss.verbose_exec=yes

What i did:
I installed a VSS client program and copied the project from server to my local machine. Earlier there was no pwd then i changed it using the client tool but still it gives the same error.
I am not sure what the project name should be, the name up there is the name given to the project folder on server so i assumed it was the same. Could this be a problem?
The project opens up just fine when using the tool.

Plz advise.. Thanks.

Problem resolved

Postby Maverick » Fri Sep 02, 2005 5:17 pm

Hi Michal,
This problem is resolved, i created myself as a user and tried the tool. it worked this time. I got a date error but i was able to resovle that also. At this time, I am running into some other problems. the log says that one ofthe files in a label had been removed and hence could not be rebuilt. why is that?

Also, here is the error i am getting:
C:\temp>svnadmin load vss_repo < /temp/vss_dump/full_dump.dump
<<< Started new transaction, based on original revision 1
* adding path : trunk ... done.

------- Committed revision 1 >>>

<<< Started new transaction, based on original revision 2
* editing path : trunk/cpxreader/cpxreader/ICMsgQue.cpp ...svnadmin: File n
ot found: transaction '1-1', path 'trunk/cpxreader/cpxreader/ICMsgQue.cpp'

C:\temp>

I have sent you the svn importer log and config files via email.
Plz review them and advise.

Thanks.

New error encountered

Postby Maverick » Fri Sep 02, 2005 8:26 pm

HI MIchal,
I encountered a new error while loading the dump file. This is in addition to those mentioned above. But the above mentioned ones did not create any problems except ones in Post #2.

Here is the error from console:
<<< Started new transaction, based on original revision 15
* editing path : trunk/ICPPTConvert/ConversionManager.cpp ... done.
* editing path : trunk/ICPPTConvert/ConversionManager.h ... done.
* editing path : trunk/ICPPTConvert/DropList.cpp ... done.
* editing path : trunk/ICPPTConvert/DropSession.cpp ... done.
* editing path : trunk/ICPPTConvert/DropSession.h ... done.
* editing path : trunk/ICPPTConvert/ICLog.cpp ... done.
* editing path : trunk/ICPPTConvert/ICLog.h ... done.
* editing path : trunk/ICPPTConvert/ICNTEvents.mc ... done.
* editing path : trunk/ICPPTConvert/ICPPTConvert.cpp ... done.
* editing path : trunk/ICPPTConvert/ICPPTConvert.dsp ... done.
* editing path : trunk/ICPPTConvert/ICPPTConvert.rc ... done.
* editing path : trunk/ICPPTConvert/ICPPTConvert.rgs ... done.
* editing path : trunk/ICPPTConvert/LogFile.cpp ...svnadmin: File not found
: transaction '14-1', path 'trunk/ICPPTConvert/LogFile.cpp'

Now i looked this file up and found it to be present in files.txt and in the vss.temp directory. Also present in the full dump file.

I have sent u the log files via email as they are big to paste here.
Here is the history file created in vss.temp directorey.

$//RealServer/No items found under $/RealServer is not valid SourceSafe syntax

Now, i noticed that in teh temp directory only one file is created while when using PVCS it used to create three files. is this correct?

Plz advise.
Thanks,

Svnimporter doesn't support vss labels.

There is a bug in svnimporter: empty directories in vss does not handle properly.

The wrong handling of empty VSS folers was entered as defect SVNIMP-14.
