VSS to SVN .root folder

Postby dgulliver » Tue Jul 20, 2010 12:52 pm

Hi,

Visual Studio creates a .root folder for every project ie.

>App1.root
>>App1

>App2.root
>>App2

So with a 230mb vss database there are going to be a lot of .root which I find annoying to say the least. When I import to SVN I do not want these .root folders in SVN. Is there a way to tell SVNImporter to move App1 out of App1.root?

Thanks
Darren

I'm not entirely sure what it is you are trying to do. It sounds like the .root folders are part of the internal VSS structure which would not normally be migrated. Have you tried running a test migration to see what the results are?

If you aren't happy with the results and want to move things around, your best bet is probably going to be to run the migration as is and then write some scripts to move things around in the subversion repository after migrating it.

Good luck,

Hi Ken,

Yeah I done a import and the .Root folders were also migrated.
Will look at the scripting option after migration as I corrupted VSS by moving some stuff about. Fortunately it was not a bad curruption just couldn't label anything :/

Thanks for suggestions.
