Re: svnimporter complaining about date format

That error means you passed exactly 3 parameters to svnimporter, and that the 3rd parameter was not a valid date/time. It looks like you only intnded to pass 2 parameters. I would look at the run.sh file and make sure it is doing what you think it is doing.

Good luck,

Re: PVCS to SVN migration

I would need to see what your log files look like when the run hung. Also, you can use the task manager to get some idea what the importer was doing. Is it still running and is it conuming massive amount of CPU time or virtual memory?

Good luck,

Re: Problem importing PVCS

This sounds like some kind of security issue within PVCS. Svnimporter was trying to run the command C:\Program Files (x86)\Serena\vm\win32\bin\pcli.exe" run ->c:/temp/local/pvcs.tempdir/files.tmp -q listversionedfiles -prZ:/ -l -z / and that request was rejected. What happens if you it yourself...

Re: wrong revision number: removed and checksum changed

The log parser got confused by a comment that looks like a Revision specification :( The import run should have generated (or used an existing) vlog.tmp file. Open that file and search for a line that looks like Rev removed and checksum changed If you don't find one, try looking for something simila...

Re: Exception caught - svn repository is not valid

Once again, the good news is that the svnimporter migration has successfully converted your PVCS archives into subversion dump files. It only failed when it was preparing to import those dump files into a Subversion repository and found that that repository does not exist. Once you figure out where ...

Re: CCLT to SVN - Error on create directory

You should be able to import multiple VOB's into the same Subversion archive. But that all have to go into separate root subdirectories within that project. And each root subdirectory project build in this fashion will have its own trunk, branches, and tags subdirectories. If that isn't how you want...

Re: CCLT to SVN - Error on create directory

If you have already created the dump files with svnimporter, you can run svnadmin to manually load each individual dump file. That is really all that svnimporter is doing, I have always found it advantageous to do that step myself, gives getter control over the process, and better access to any erro...

Re: CC to SVN - revision numbering issue

That's the way Subversion works. It has one global set of revision numbers for the entire archive. It's one of the hardest things for new Subversion users to get used to, but it does work quite nicely.

Have a nice day,

Re: incremental Migration from Pvcs to svn

Hmmm, possibly because you have no branches? Branching has been one of our weak points. If you send me a zipped copy of the vlog.tmp and files.tmp files for this run, I'll see if I can figure out how it is supposed to work. The consequences of setting use_file_copy to no is that the members of your ...

Re: incremental Migration from Pvcs to svn

You can't do an incremental migration unless you turn the use_file_copy setting off. This would probably be acceptable for archives that have no branches and don't do a lot of tagging. Otherwise you loose a lot of valuable information about branching and tag history. Personally I would never recomme...

Re: PVCStoSVN - Error in SVN dump Load

Well, that was a less than compellingly useful exercise. I found that the PVCS migrator has a backward way of passing file information to and from the PVCS client executable,so the playback log didn't include most of the information I needed. I'm going to try putting in some logic to do a better job...

Sorry, not yet. I've been swamped with other stuff and am just now getting to look at it.

I'll let you know what I come up with.

Re: PVCStoSVN - Error in SVN dump Load

It didn't get very far. Looks like that was the first commit it tried to post. I think our next step is to try building a playback log. 1) Edit config.properties to set the record.mode setting to record-stubs 2) Run svnimporter again to build a new dump file. In addition it will log all interactions...

Re: CVS2SVN -> CVS lock issue

Svnimporter is my baby, one I love with all of my heart and soul. But I would never consider using it to migration a CVS repository. The team that wrote svn were a pretty smart bunch, and they had loads of CVS repositories that needed to be migrated to their new creation. The tool they created to do...

Re: PVCStoSVN - Error in SVN dump Load

The Pipe has ended message is a quaint way of saying that svnadmin failed to import the dump file. Svnimport goes through a lot of work to build the dump file, then invokes the svnadmin program in a separate process to actually load the dump file into the repository. It communicates with the svnadmi...
