Re: StarTeam to SVN conversion SvnException: Unknown branch

The correct source code for all importer versions other than VSS can be found in the increasingly missnamed Improved_MKS_Branch. Someday I should move that back to the main trunk. The specific problem is that some file revision on a source branch was being added to some tag record *BEFORE* the branc...

Re: Timeout or hang when exporting StarTeam to SVN.

There were no error messages in either the log file or stdout??????

I do think that running a large migration with 2G of RAM is a setup for failure. The migration takes absurd amounts of memory. We usually run it on servers where 8-12G is commonly available.

Good luck

Re: Problems converting MKS to SVN

The first problem results from the importer misinterpreting the revision date reported by the "si rlog" subcommand. So your first order of business should do do your own rlog command and see how that date is formatted. There are two configuration parameters that determine how this is inter...

Re: Import project from MKS to SVN

That's actually an easy problem. You tell svnimporter to not load the dump files. Instead they are zipped up and move to the target system where they can be unzipped and manually loaded into your subversion archive. You use the "svnadmin load" subcommand to do this. The target project is t...

Re: Migrating from ClearCase to SVN: Appear to be missing fi

There are some known problems with the Clearcase migration of branches and tags, and it looks like you ran into one of them. Once upon a time, I went through and figured out just what we would have to do to make it work properly, but it turned out to be a considerable amount of work, 3-4 days or so....

Re: Migrating mutliple PVCS archives at one time

Basically, no. The svnimporter tool only does one project at a time. My solution to this has been to write some scripts that do all of the tasks needed to run one project migration, which typically involves 1) Make a copy of a standard configuration file template changing the project source paramete...

Re: error while migrating from pvcs to svn server repository

Personally, I prefer to run the svnadmin load command myself to load the dump files created by the importer. Gives me better control over what is happening, and a separate log file for the load process. Your problem is that either you or svnimporter have to use svnadmin, and not svn, to load the dum...

Re: PVCS archives converted to subversion

I've never tried the PVCS -> Svn migration, but it is one of the importer tool options so you might as well give it a try. Other users have used it successfully. Revision numbers in Subversion are completely different that any other RCS tool I know about. Instead of the number being assigned as chan...

Re: Import project from MKS to SVN

It is probably still an authorization problem. Try logging on as you do when you run the migration and manually run one of the si commands. Something like si projectinfo -P C:/Projects/Testing/project.p If that works, the migration should be able to access the server project info. If it doesn't, you...

Re: PVCS2 SVN empty svn model - nothing to import

FWIW, I would never do a migration without setting file_copy to yes. Doing that results in a much cleaner (and much smaller) repository. Even if it does preclude doing incremental migrations. I am curious why you couldn't load the dump files into your production system. Do I understand this correctl...

Re: SVNImporter how to exclude CVS projects

SVNImporter generally migrates one project at a time. If you have 10 separate projects you need to run it 10 times. And if there are a couple projects that you don't want to migrate, just don't run it for them. The definition of a "project" is somewhat nebulous. It would be more accurate t...

Re: C++ project files - Are VSS bindings removed?

I really don't know anything about VSS or what VSS bindings are. Without some context i can't tell for certain, but my money would be betting that what you are seeing are the contents of different VSS configuration files. The importer doesn't know anything about the VSS build process, it just migrat...

Re: to date. Expected format: "yyyy-MM-dd'T'kk:mm:ss

There is, that is exactly what the incremental migration option does. The problem is you can't use if if you have set the file.copy option. And a migration without the file.copy option is going to create multiple versions of files that have joint ancestors in different branches. The results will be ...

Re: Skip selective Tags and Branches from CC to SVN Migratio

I'm not exactly sure how a CC migration is done, I've never done one myself. If you are only interested in a small subset of the archived CC history, you might want to consider doing the migration manually. If you don't want any history, you just check out your CC source to a local directory and che...

Re: Import project from MKS to SVN

You have to set the mks.project property to the MKS project that you want to migrate. You have it set to C:/MKS/project.pj and the MKS server is saying that that project is registered with it. You need to figure out what the target MKS project is called, the GUI interface should tell you that, and u...
